Army Command underscores high readiness to defend homeland

PROVINCES,(ST)_The General Command of army and armed forces marked on Monday Martyrs Day and stressed high-state of readiness to defend homeland.

The officers pledged, in speeches given in a mass rally held on this occasion (Martyrs Day), to continue confronting all those who target Syria and its firm principles.

Meanwhile, Chief of  Staff of the Army and Armed forces, Ali Abdullah Ayyob visited some military hospitals to inspect health condition of the army’s wounded soldiers.

He underscored the armed forces are able to defend the country’s unity.

Qualitative operations outside capital

Syrian Arab army’s today-operations targeted terrorist groupings outside the capital and Homs and north provinces.

An official source said: “a unit of armed forces killed 5 terrorists in Zamalka suburb in Damascus countryside and destroyed their weapons and ammunitions, while other terrorists were eliminated in an ambush in Shab’a farms.”

It added that another unit of armed forces clashed with terrorists groups in Harasta and al-Shayah areas and farms located between Daraya and Sehnaya suburbs, killing and injuring unknown number of terrorists.

Meanwhile, a series of qualitative operations were carried out by the armed forces against terrorists in suburbs of Jobar, Qabon, Barzeh, and Adra outside the capital.

Several hideouts of terrorists have been destroyed in the operations.

In the south area of the same province, terrorists killed each other during a quarrel broke out between them over sharing loots in al-Hajar al-Aswad suburb.

Similar incident took place in Kherbet Ghazaleh area in Daraa province where two terrorist groups exchanged fire and eliminated each other.

Fighting in Aleppo and Homs

Towards the country’s north, Aleppo province saw fierce clashes between units of armed forces and terrorist groups in al-Layramon area amid reports of destroying terrorist hideouts in al-Msalameya, Haylan, Meneg, and al-Alqameya areas.

Unknown number of terrorists were killed.

Other terrorists including non-Syrian ones (two Saudis and two Jordanians) were eliminated in Homs and Lattakia countryside.

In Idleb countryside, the armed forces destroyed a factory for producing explosive devices and a booby-trapped car in Bennesh area.

They, in addition, shelled terrorist groupings in Ein al-Bardeh, Ein al-Souda, Taftanaz, Sermin, al-Nayrab and Maretmesrin areas, and repelled al-Nusra Front-affiliated terrorists’ bid to sneak into Abo al-Dohor military airport inflicting big losses upon them.

In a separate incident, terrorists launched a mortar shell on Ashrafeyet Sehnaya town landed on a home there.

The shell led to the fall of a martyr and serious damages at the scene.

Syria is facing a foreign-backed war that aims to weaken the Syrian Arab army and destroy national economy to serve Israel’s interests in the region.

The US, France, Britain, Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia fund and support the terrorist groups, who perpetrate heinous crimes against citizen and destroy Syria’s infrastructure.
