Army Command Declares Full Victory over Terrorism in Eastern Ghouta
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Syrian army has reestablished full control over all the cities and towns of eastern Ghouta in Damascus Countryside after army units eliminated hundreds of terrorists and destroyed their command centers , fortifications and arms depots.
“Our armed forces in cooperation with allied and backup forces accomplished their military operation in eastern Ghouta by reestablishing full control over all the cities and towns in the area following precisely-planned combat activities that were carried out in a high level of coordination and cooperation among all forces,” the command said in a statement on Saturday.
It clarified that the military operation resulted in the Syrian army’s recapturing of the towns and cities of Hazrama, al-Nashabiya, al-Salihiyeh, Tal Firzat, Hawsh Kharabo, Bait Nayem, al-Muhammadieh, Hawsh al-Qibyat, Aftris, Hawsh al-Baroudeh, Hawsh al-Asha’ri, Ard al-Basha, Hawsh al-Zawahra, al-Shifounieh, Ard Ila’b, al-Rihan, Hawsh Mubaraka, Ard al-Abrashieh, Ard al-Zawieh, Ard al-Safsafeh, Beit Sawa, Madiyara, Hammourueh, Mesraba, Hazzeh, Saqba, Ein Tarma and Jobar, Zamalka, Erbin, Harasta and Kafar Batna.
The army units also helped tens of thousands of civilians leave eastern Ghouta safely through humanitarian corridors after being trapped for years and taken as human shields by terrorists in Ghouta, the command added, pointing out that the civilians were taken to well-equipped temporary housing centers.
The command stressed that victory in eastern Ghouta is very important as it restores full security and stability to Damascus and its surrounding where civilians suffered a lot from the terrorists daily shelling. It also undermines the bet of terrorism sponsors and supporters on besieging the capital and putting political, military and media pressure the Syrian state.
The victory also secures the main roads between Damascus and each of Syria’s central, northern and coastal regions as well as the eastern region via the badia, not to mention its importance in dealing a heavy blow to the terrorist scheme planned against Syria.
The command concluded by calling on all misled persons in others areas to hurry and get their legal status settled as to restore normal life.
