IDLEB, (ST)- Syrian Arab Army units on Monday cleared Ma’asaran town and al-Sawame’ village to the northeast of Ma’aret al-Nauman city in the southern countryside of Idleb, of terrorism following fierce clashes with Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization and its allied armed groups.
SANA reporter in Idleb said that after liberating the village of al-Zalanah which overlooks Ma’aret al-Nauman-Saraqeb International highway, the army units managed late last night to recapture al-Dana village to the west of the international highway and today they expanded their operations towards Ma’asaran town and al-Sawame’ village, southeast of Saraqeb.
The reporter added that the army units have engaged in fierce battles with the terrorists to regain Ma’asaran town and al-Sawame’ village on their way to Ma’aret al-Nauman, one of the key strongholds of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization in Idleb.
Yesterday, the army reestablished control over the villages of Maar Shorin, Al-Zalanah, Al-Ghadfa and Al-Dana in the southern countryside of Idlib.
In the meantime, the terrorist organizations in the countryside of Idleb and Aleppo continue preventing civilians to leave the terrorist-held areas via the humanitarian corridors set up in Abu al-Duhour, al-Hbeit and al-Hader areas.
Terrorists affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra were positioned on the sides of the roads leading to Abu al-Duhour and al-Habbit corridors in Idleb countryside and al-Hader in the southern countryside of Aleppo to target civilians who try to approach the corridors to leave. The purpose is to use civilians as human shields.
