Army Chief of Staff visits units operating in al-Sukhna city in Homs countryside

Homs – Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the army and armed forces, President Bashar al-Assad, the army’s Chief of Staff, Gen. Ali Abdullah Ayoub visited on Monday the army units operating in al-Sukhna city and the surrounding areas  in eastern countryside of Homs.

During the tour, Major general Ayoub was briefed on the volume of destruction left by ISIS terrorists there.

Major General Ayoub met the field commanders and soldiers at their sites, conveying to them the amity of President al-Assad and his appreciation of their sacrifices in the war against ISIS terrorist organization, SANA reported.

He praised the courage of the soldiers and their heroism to liberate al-Sukhna city and the high morale they enjoy, affirming that this achievement is a starting point to defeat what remains of terrorist cells in the region and a juncture to set off towards Deir Ezzor.

 General Ayoub raised the Syrian flag over the public square of al-Sukhna.

The field commanders and soldiers, for their part, stressed their determination to go ahead in fulfilling their duties in the fight against terrorism and restore stability and security to all Syrian territories.

The Syrian Arab Army, in cooperation with the backup forces, established on Sunday full control over al-Sukhna city , 70 km northeast of Palmyra, after intensive operations against ISIS terrorist organization.
