Today, the Armenian community celebrated Christmas. A divine mass was held on this occasion in the Saint Sarkis Armenian Orthodox Church in Damascus, presided over by Archbishop Armach Nalbandian, Metropolitan of the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese of Damascus, and assisted by Archimandrite Gabriel Sarkissian and the church’s chorale.
Nalbandian delivered the Christmas sermon, in which he spoke about the lofty meanings of Christmas and called on all believers to imitate the glorious biography of Christ in conveying the message of heaven to earth as a wonderful model for redemption in order to save humanity from the abomination of sins and to spread the principles of love, goodness, justice and peace among people.
Nalbandian called on the parishioners to remember the virtues associated with Christmas, the first of which is salvation and humility. He prayed to God to bring blessing to our beloved country Syria, to enjoy security, stability and prosperity, to preserve our land, and to bless all Syrians, namely the Syrian Arab Army, which has been steadfast for more than a decade in the face of terrorism in all its forms under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.
The Armenian community in Aleppo and Qamishli also celebrated a glorious Christmas.
The Christmas sermons dealt with the lofty meanings of the birth of Christ, the Messenger of love and peace, who instilled the values of tolerance and goodness in the hearts of human beings. The sermons called for Syria’s deliverance from pain and its victory over terrorism and the liberation of every occupied inch of its soil.
In the Church of the Forty Martyrs of the Orthodox Armenians, Archbishop Masis Zoboyan, Metropolitan of Aleppo and its Dependencies, presided over the Armenian Orthodox mass. In his sermon, he wished that goodness and safety would prevail in Syria and the world, and that love and tolerance would prevail in the souls of all mankind
The liturgy, which was held in the St. Hagop Armenian Orthodox Church in Qamishli, was presided over by Deputy Archbishop Archimandrite Levon Yeghayan, the Archbishop of the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese in Syrian Jazeera.
Yeghayan said that the joy and peace that we are experiencing today on Christmas is thanks to the victories of the Syrian Arab Army, wishing that security and stability would prevail throughout Syria.
