Armenian Community Is an Integral Part of Syrian Society: Al-Mikdad

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad  has stressed that the Armenian community is an integral part of the Syrian society, pointing out that the Armenians in Syria have greatly contributed to the development of the country.

Al-Mikdad, who was speaking during on a farewell ceremony held on Thursday in honor  of the Armenian Ambassador in Damascus Arshak Poladian on the occasion of the end of his term in Syria, hailed the strong relations between Syria and Armenia and highly appreciated Poladian’s efforts to further boost cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

 Mikdad condemned the Turkish regime’s continued crimes against the Syrian and Armenian peoples, noting that the Turkish occupation of parts of the Syrian territory reveals Turkey’s hostile attitude and mentality.

During the ceremony, Poladian was awarded the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent Degree in appreciation for his efforts in consolidating Syrian-Armenian relations and for his noble personality.

The ambassador thanked President Bashar al-Assad for granting him the order of merit and hailed the support and facilitations provided to him by the Syrian institutions as to accomplish his mission successfully.
