The Armenian government announced today the activation of the Markara border crossing with Turkey, starting from March 21st until March 31st, to facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid shipments to Syria via Turkish territory.
The Armenian news agency Armenpress reported that the government’s decision came after working meetings between representatives of the relevant administrations in Armenia and Syria, during which it was agreed to discuss ways to provide humanitarian aid directly from Armenia to Syria.
The text of the resolution stated that “the adoption of this project comes in response to the need to delivering humanitarian aid sent from the Republic of Armenia to the Syrian Arab Republic, via land routes passing through Turkey.”
