Armenia bans importing Turkish goods

On January 3, the Armenian government announced a six-month ban on importing Turkish goods in protest against the Turkish regime’s interference in the Nagorno Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The import ban will not lead to an increase in prices in the country because Turkish goods don’t dominate the market in the country, as imports from Russia, Belarus, Iran and China can replace them,”Russia Today quoted the Armenian Ministry of Economy as saying.

On the ninth of last November, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a ceasefire agreement in Nagorno Karabakh that stipulated a ceasefire between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces within their current locations and the deployment of Russian peacekeepers along the line of contact, lifting restrictions on transportation, transit and prisoner exchangeand the return of the displaced to Karabakh, under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNCHR).
