Argentine’s Hector Cuper to coach the Syrian national football team

The Syrian Football Federation announced that it had reached an agreement with the Argentinian coach Hector Cuper to be the technical director of the Syrian national football team. Cuper and his assistant staff will arrive in Syria to sign the contract within the coming few days.
The new coach was born on November 16, 1955, and his career as a player extended for more than 15 years, during which he played for a number of Argentinian clubs, most notably Ferro Osti and Huracan. He started coaching after retiring as footballer. He shone within the Spanish club Mallorca, after he led the club to the Spanish Super Cup in1998 at the expense of Barcelona, Spain, before he succeeded in bringing Valencia to the European Cup Winners’ final.
Among Cuper’s other most notable achievements is the runner-up with Inter in the Italian League championship 2002-2003 season and runner-up in the Greek Cup with Aris Thessaloniki in 2010.At the national level, Hector Cuper coached the Georgia national team between 2008 and 2009. He also led the Egyptian national team to the African Cup finals in 2017 and then to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after a 28-year absence from the finals, then he coached the national teams of Uzbekistan and Congo.
