The Argentine Ministry of Health has announced today the death of the first patient infected with monkeypox.
The media quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: “The first death from the disease was recorded for a 44-year-old man who was also suffering from acquired immunodeficiency virus “AIDS” and has been in the intensive care unit since the 9th of last October.”
The statement indicated that as of November 22, 895 cases of monkeypox had been confirmed in Argentina.
The World Health Organization has reported that more than 81,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox, including 55 deaths, have been recorded in 110 countries since the beginning of this year.
