Moscow, (ST) – The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, discussed with the Russian Special Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the situation in Syria and the region.
Ephrem II referred to the current difficult situation in the region, especially in Syria, and the many crises and their repercussions on the citizens. He called for continuous efforts to know the fate of the kidnapped bishops of Aleppo, Paul Yazigi, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Aleppo, and Yohanna Ibrahim, the Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo, who were kidnapped by terrorist organizations.
For his part, Bogdanov reviewed Russia’s efforts in the region and its insistance to continue working in order to reach comprehensive solutions to crises.
