Araqchi Appreciates Russia, China’s Role in Iran Nuclear Talks

Tehran–    Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi described the role of Russia and China in Iran nuclear talks as constructive.

In an interview with Al-Alam News Network, Araqchi said that Iran’s relations with Russia and China are longstanding and deep-rooted.

We are not dissatisfied with the role these two countries played in the course of nuclear talks over the past ten years,’ Araqchi said, describing their overall role in the talks as positive.

In some cases they pursued their national interests which was something natural, but on the whole, Russia and China played a constructive and positive role, he said.

Iran deal was a win-win game , says Araqchi

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Sunday that taken overall, Iran deal was a win-win game from the very beginning and both sides won in this agreement.

Speaking to Al-Alam News Network, Araqchi said that each side had its own demands which have been met more or less in the course of talks.

Each side had to give some concessions in order to reach its demands, Araqchi said.

‘The main demand of the other side was to make sure that there is no nuclear weapons in Iran and there is not going to be in the future,’ Araqchi said, adding that with flexibility Iran showed in accepting some restrictions or some inspections, the other side has reached its demand for making sure that Iran’s nuclear program will remain peaceful.

On the other hand, Iran wanted to continue with its peaceful nuclear activities, including enrichment, and wanted the United Nations to recognize its nuclear program, Araqchi said.

The deputy foreign minister said that the recent UNSC resolution has for the first time recognized enrichment program in a developing country and has asked all other countries to cooperate with it.

Iran’s other demand is removal of all sanctions which will also be met and all the economic and financial sanctions imposed on the country will be lifted on the very first day of implementing the deal, Araqchi said.

Araqchi viewed Iran deal as a win-win game that could set an example for other regional and international issues to be resolved through dialogue.
