Arab writers and intellectuals affirm their solidarity with Damascus

A rich cultural heritage in all fields is the result of thousands of years of successive civilization, starting with the ancient cities of Syria, which were beacons of literature and culture and a springboard for civilization, all the way to Damascus, the home of literature, poetry, science and culture in different historical eras.

The years of the terrorist war on Syria were not able to undermine the cultural and civilizational radiance of Damascus, which has always made it a destination for Arab writers, intellectuals and writers, and today Damascus hosts 12 Arab unions in the al-Assad National Library within the meeting of the General Union of Arab Writers who wish to send a message to the Arab world and the region that Syria will remain the fortress of Arab culture through the ages.

On the sidelines of the meeting, a number of union leaders and Arab writers said that Damascus is hosting this meeting at a time of confusion and the presence of writers and intellectuals confirms Syria’s strong presence and the consolidation of the culture of resistance in the Arab cultural space. The Arab intellectuals pointed out the importance of the role of Arab culture in preserving the historical constants and the conscience of Arab history, which was manifested in the establishment of this meeting in dear Syria.
