Arab researcher: US blockade on Syria a crime against humanity

Dr. Ziad Hafez, a researcher, political economist and former Secretary-General of the Arab National Conference, has stressed that Syria was and will continue to be fortified against all who try to undermine its independence and pan-Arab approach.

In his speech on Monday  in the context of the Arab and international people’s campaign to lift the blockade imposed on Syria, Hafez said: “The siege as well as the occupation of parts of Syrian territory and the looting of oil and natural resources by the United States are a desperate attempt to pressure Syria and its people after the world aggression against them has failed”. He stressed that the blockade is a crime against humanity and a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions and it serves the Zionist entity’s objectives and plans.

Hafez called on the Arab nationalist stance rejecting the blockade and unilateral coercive economic measures against Syria to be correlated with the stance in support of the Palestinian cause, as Syria’s continued support for the Palestinian cause through supporting the resistance is a great support for the axis of resistance and for Palestine.

He also called for the formation of committees in various countries of the Arab world to encourage citizens to reject the blockade and the unjust measures imposed on Syria and to raise the level of legal
confrontation by prosecuting the US administration officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity represented in this blockade.
