Arab religious figures severely denounce the assassination of Sheikh Al-Afyouni

Beirut (ST): The Islamic Action Front in Lebanon has severely denounced the terrorist crime that led to the martyrdom of Sheikh Moammad Adnan al-Afyouni, the Mufti of Damascus and its Countryside.

In a statement released today, the Front affirmed that this coward act would not dissuade scholars from confronting takfiri and terrorist campaigns.
The statement stressed the necessity of combatting takfiri terrorism along with the Zionist terrorism.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Highest Islamic Shi’ite Council Sheikh Ali al-Khatib stressed that the assassination of Sheikh al-Afyouni is a terrorist act that aims to destabilize security after the humiliating defeat of the Zionist American project in Syria.

He added that Syria has always been immune to all American Zionist plans and that nothing will dissuade it from its firm and principled stands towards the Palestine question.

In Iraq, the President of the Highest Sufi Academy Mohammad Obeid denounced the assassination crime , extending heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and to all Syrian people.

Sheikh al-Afyouni , Mufti of Damascus and its Countryside, fell martyr last night in a terrorist explosion that targeted his car in Qudsaya town in Damascus countryside.
