Arab Parliamentarians: So-called “Deal of the Century” is not a step towards just settlement

AMMAN, (ST)- The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) has affirmed its complete rejection of any settlement of the Palestinian cause that does not include the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4th 1967 borders with al-Quds as its capital.

In the communiqué following its emergency meeting on Saturday in the Jordanian capital Amman, the APU reiterated that recognizing al-Quds as the undivided capital of the Israeli occupation is a dangerous escalation that threatens the region’s security.

The union described the US plan called “the Deal of the Century”, as a unilateral agreement that does not represent a step towards just and comprehensive solution.

The union stressed its rejection of any attempt to confiscate the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland and reaffirmed its adherence to international legitimacy resolutions as a term of reference that preserves the Palestinians’ rights and recognizes their decades long suffering.

It called for achieving Palestinian reconciliation to confront the schemes that aim at liquidating the Palestinian cause, stressing the need to mobilize more Arab support for the Palestinians in their struggle for self-determination and independent state.
