Arab Parliament and GCC: International community’s silence encourages Israeli occupation to intensify its violations against Syria

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression on the town of Koya, west of Daraa.

The GCC General Secretariat website reported that Al-Budaiwi said in a statement: This aggression by the Israeli occupation forces is a continuation of their aggressive approach to destabilize the region.

Al-Budaiwi stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to halt these repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and to call on Israel to withdraw from all occupied Syrian territories.

Al-Budaiwi reiterated the statement of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council at its 163rd session, which emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, considering that its security and stability are a fundamental pillar of regional stability and the preservation of regional and international peace and security.

For its part, the Arab Parliament condemned the Israeli occupation entity’s bombing of the town of Koya in the countryside of Daraa Governorate, which led to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of innocent civilians.

In a statement published today, the Parliament affirmed that the continuation of such attacks without accountability, and in light of the international community’s silence, encourages the Israeli occupation entity to continue and intensify its violations. This constitutes a blatant infringement on Syrian sovereignty and it undermines the security and stability of Syria and the region.

The Arab Parliament called on the UN Security Council and influential countries in the international community to assume their responsibilities in halting these violations and holding the occupation entity accountable.

The Parliament affirmed its full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic in the face of these barbaric attacks, supporting its right to preserve its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and supporting the aspirations of the Syrian people to achieve security and stability.
