Arab League condemns Israel’s brutal crime against Palestinians in Jenin

CAIRO, July 4, (ST)- Today, an emergency meeting was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo at the level of permanent representatives of the member states to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories in the light of the Israeli aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp in the West Bank.

The current president of the 159th  session of the Council of the Arab League, the permanent representative of Egypt, Ambassador Muhammad Mustafa Orfi, said that the Israeli occupation authorities violate international law and international legitimacy and add to their crimes against the Palestinians a new crime in Jenin that warns of dire consequences that threaten security and stability.

Orfi denounced the brutal killings being practiced by the Israeli war machine against the Palestinians, which undermine and impede efforts to reach a two-state solution, stressing that the Palestinian cause is the central cause of the Arabs and the cause of honorable people in the world.

For its part, Syria, in a statement read by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Syria, renewed its condemnation of the brutal Zionist aggression against Jenin, which constitutes a new episode of crimes committed by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people with the support of the US.

The deputy representative of Syria said that the abhorrent international silence encourages the occupation entity to persist in its crimes and act as if it was immune to accountability, stressing that Palestine remains the central issue of the Arabs.

He stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions that support the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and establishing their independent state on all of its national soil with Al-Quds as its capital.

Jordan’s permanent representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Amjad Al-Adaileh, said in his speech at the meeting: “Palestine will remain our central cause that we gather around and for in support of the brotherly Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, and in rejection of all the repeated Israeli aggressions and crimes being committed against them without the slightest consideration for humanitarian standards and international legal conventions .”

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, said: “The Palestinian people are exposed today, as every day, to an all-out Israeli war, aggression followed by aggression and crime after crime, and this happens openly in broad daylight and in a live broadcast before the eyes of the international community.”

He called on  the UN Secretary-General to follow up on the implementation of UN resolutions related to the protection of the Palestinian people and to develop practical mechanisms to implement this protection, and to put “Israel”, the occupying power, apartheid and its barbaric war machine on the international list of shame.

At its conclusion, the emergency meeting adopted a resolution condemning the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories, especially Jenin, and affirming solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of this aggression and in defense of their life, sanctities, and property and rights.
