Arab League Affirms Solidarity with Syria in Facing Israeli Aggression

Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s attack on the village of Koya in the western countryside of Daraa, affirming the League’s solidarity with Syria in confronting these Israeli aggressions and its full support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity.

In a statement published on the League’s website today, Aboul Gheit reiterated the League’s firm rejection of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, noting that these actions constitute a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and a clear attempt to exploit the critical phase Syria is going through aiming to seize its lands and incite strife and conflicts.

Aboul Gheit called on the Security Council to fulfill its role in halting the brutal and unjustified Israeli aggression against Syria and to compel Israel to respect international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. He urged the international community to take strong and clear positions to deter Israeli settlement expansion policy and aggressive behavior against the countries and peoples of the region.
