Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit to be held in Riyadh instead of the two separate Arab and Islamic summits

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia on Saturday decided to hold an Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit in Riyadh instead of the two summits; the emergency Arab Summit and the Islamic Extraordinary Summit.

“In response to the unprecedented circumstances in Gaza, and after consultations between Saudi Arabia, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it was decided to hold a Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on November 11, 2023, instead of the emergency Arab Summit and the Extraordinary Islamic Summit, which were scheduled to be held in the same date,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The decision to merge the two summits comes as leaders of all the participating countries felt the importance of unifying efforts and coming up with a unified collective position on the dangerous and unprecedented developments in Gaza and the Palestinian territories that require the unity of the Arab and Islamic ranks as to confront these development and contain their repercussions, the ministry added.
