Arab International Popular Campaign to break the siege on Syria will organize a humanitarian convoy to Earthquake-affected areas
The preparatory Committee of the Arab International Popular Campaign to Break the Siege on Syria has announced that it will organize a humanitarian convoy to be sent to Damascus in the second half of next May under the slogan “The Convoy of Arab Unity and Human Fraternity”.
In a statement following its periodical meeting on Friday, the committee said that its members decided to launch the convoy after the end of the holy month of Ramadan. People, who are willing to participate in the convoy, are due to meet in Jordan and Lebanon from where they will head to Damascus and then to the earthquake affected areas accompanied by tons of relief and medical supplies to the affected people.
Majdi Al-Ma’sarawi, Coordinator of the campaign, said “our battle to break the blockade imposed on Syria is part of the nation’s battle against the Zionist-American scheme and the Zionist entity, because Syria, throughout its history, has been the base of Arab resistance against this scheme”.
During the meeting, the activities and results of the Third Arab Youth Solidarity Forum, which was recently held in Damascus with the participation of 92 young men and women from 10 Arab countries, were discussed.
Participants in the meeting also emphasized the importance of intensifying Arab and international popular movements to assure the Syrian people that they are not alone in facing the war, the siege and the repercussions of the devastating earthquake.
