Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union denounces the repeated practices of the Turkish regime of cutting off water in Hasakah Governorate

Damascus, (ST) – The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union denounced the Turkish regime’s repeated practices of cutting off water for more than a million Syrian citizens in Hasakah Governorate.

The union said in a statement yesterday that in light of the continuous Turkish practices represented by the repeated cutting off water in Hasakah Governorate, the Arab Parliamentary Union denounces these actions and practices that violate the principles and good-neighborly relations and the provisions of international humanitarian law, which prohibits the use of water as a weapon against innocent civilians, whatever the justifications and pretexts.

The Union warned of the dangerous consequences of Turkish practices on the lives of Syrian civilians. It called for an end to these practices, and for  finding a radical and sustainable solution to provide water to citizens and end this human tragedy.

The union expressed its support and sympathy with the Syrian people.

The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union affirmed its support for all national, Arab and regional efforts aimed at finding a solution to the crisis in Syria that establishes security, stability and prosperity in it.
