Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union calls on UNSC to activate Chapter VII of UN Charter to oblige Israeli occupation to immediatly issue ceasefire in Gaza Strip

Beirut (ST) – The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union welcomed the Human Rights Council’ adopting of a resolution that calls for a halt to arms sales to the Zionist entity with the aim of preventing further violations of international humanitarian law and human rights in Gaza Strip, which have reached an unimaginable extent.

The Union called on the UN Security Council to activate the 7th chapter of the UN Charter to compel the occupation to issue an immediate ceasefire and implement international legitimacy resolutions.

The Union stated that the Zionist expansionist and systematic plans would not have reached this limit of recklessness if it has had no cover and protection from international punishment and accountability.

“The Union regrets that the dangerous situation in the region did not mobilize the members of the international family, so that everyone should bear their humanitarian and legal responsibilities and intervene quickly to reach ceasefire in Gaza, which is the same procrastination that encouraged the usurping entity to continue building the cancerous settlements and did not find it a deterrent forcing it to comply with international legitimacy resolutions. ”

The Union stressed the necessity of obliging the barbaric Zionist entity to adopt an immediate ceasefire decision and open all crossings to allow immediate access of emergency humanitarian aid and prevent the forced transfer of Palestinians, in the light of the genocide it is committing in Gaza.

The Union appreciated the Human Rights Council’ condemnation of the occupation’s settlement building plans in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan and holding the occupation accountable for its crimes in Gaza.

The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union called on the countries that did not support the Human Rights Council resolution to review their position and abandon the policy of double standards.
