Arab, Hungarian committees participate in celebration on Syria’s Independence Day in Budapest

Syrian, Arab and Hungarian political and cultural committees have participated in a celebration held Saturday by the “Forum For Syria” group and the Syrian community in Hungary’s capital [Budapest] on the occasion of Syria’s Independence Day [also known as Evacuation Day].

The speakers in celebration underlined the importance of commemorating the Independence Day and the Baath Arab Socialist Party’s foundation during the aggression being launched on the Syrian state.

They hailed the stances of the Syrian leadership and army that fight terrorism in the Syrian territories, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency carried a statement released by the Forum’s members and the Syrian community saying: “Since 1946- the achievement of independence- the Syrian people have struggled to consolidate the national independence and to protect the homeland’s independent decision. The people have been engaged in several wars against the colonial conspiracies that aim to subjugate Syria because of its support for the just Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause.”

The statement added that the US-Israeli plot against the region seeks to intervene in the internal affairs of some Arab countries and to fuel wars as well as to carry out foreign aggression on some countries in collusion with some Arab regimes.

It referred to the role of the Syrian army in preserving the homeland’s unity, saluting the countries supporting Syria in its war against terrorism.
