Arab countries continue to welcome decision on resuming Syria’s participation in Arab League Council meetings

The Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Muhammad al-Halbousi on Monday welcomed the Arab foreign ministers’ decision to resume Syria’s participation in the meetings and activities of the Arab League Council.

The Iraqi official said in a tweet “With sincere Arab call and from the platform of the Arab Parliament Union in Baghdad, we as well as heads of Arab parliaments have demanded the return of Syria to its position in the Arab league” , noting that this decision was taken to serve the interests of all Arabs.

from Lebanon, the Lebanese Minister of Culture, Judge Muhammad Wissam al-Murtada, said on Twitter: “Our nation remains incomplete without Syria. Syria is the heritage, history, location and role” stressing Syria plays a key role in achieving Arab cooperation at all levels, especially the cultural one.

In turn, the Lebanese Union Party considered in a statement that the decision to resume Syria’s participation in the Arab League is an Arab awakening, due to the importance of Syria in Arab action, indicating its absence and exclusion in the previous period confused Arab solidarity and opened large gaps in joint action.

The party called for exerting efforts to attain a real Arab action that is in the interest of the nation and its fateful issues, foremost among which is the issue of Palestine, Arab solidarity and the establishment of a unified economic system that undermines the west’s policy to plunder the nation’s wealth.

For its part, the General Secretariat of the General Conference of Arab Parties affirmed that this decision came after the failure of the hostile conspiracy against Syria and constitutes an implicit recognition of the historical mistake committed against the Syrian people, whose leadership, army and people were able to confront the conspiracy with strength , patience and ability.

The Secretariat called on the Arab countries to play a constructive role in contributing to lifting the unjust siege on Syria and put an end to the coercive US-Western sanctions against it.

The General Union of Arab Journalists also hailed Syria’s return to the Arab League , stressing that the resumption of Syria’s participation in the Arab League will contribute to strengthening joint Arab action, calling for supporting  Syria in its reconstruction process.
