CAPITALS, (ST)- Head of the Russian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Group Dmitry Saplin has stressed that the late Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moallem has served his country with great honesty.
“With the death of Al-Moallem, Syria is turning over an important historical era of the country’s foreign policy,” Saplin said.
On his part, Deputy Head of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia Stanislav Grospic said that Syria has lost one of the most serious and capable Arab diplomats.
“Al-Moallem was loyal to his country and people. He was a solid fighter for Syria’s sovereignty,” Grospic said, pointing out that al-Moallem spent his lifetime as an educated patriotic and progressive national figure who contributed to the development of Syria’s principled foreign policy.
On his part, head of the Lebanese Union Party Abdul Rahim Mourad extended his condolences to the Syrian government and people on the death of Al-Moallm.
The Arab nation has lost one of the symbols of steadfastness and original national and Arab principles and one of the frontline defenders of Arab and Syrian interests.
The Arab Nasserite Democratic Party in Egypt also expressed deep condolences to Syria on the death of Al-Moallem.
In a statement, the party said that the demise of Al-Mallem “is a loss for the entire Arab nation, as he was a diplomatic knight who managed the battle against the Zionist conspiracy at international diplomatic forums and won it.”
