Approval issued on the apple export subsidy program for the current season

Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, approved the recommendation of the Economic Committee, which includes support for the proposals of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform to support the export of apples, assigning them to coordinate with the concerned authorities to put a number of proposals into practice.

These proposals include the continuation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform’s awareness campaigns targeting apple farmers to provide them with information related to good agricultural practices that must be applied to the crop (methods and times of spraying pesticides and their ratios) in order to avoid the residual effect of pesticides and ensure quality in accordance with international standards. The campaign also includes preparing and developing the work of laboratories and directing them to send the results of analyses that violate specifications (especially those that contain residual traces of pesticides) to the General Customs Directorate to take the appropriate action by not releasing the violating shipments.

The campaign further includes that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection – the Syrian Corporation for Trade extracts the largest possible amount of apples for internal marketing in its sales outlets in the governorates at competitive and encouraging prices for farms, and the Agency for Support and Development of Local Production and Exports launches a program to support the export of the material for the current season.
