Latakia, (ST) – The team of the Center for Applied Physics and Basic Sciences, representing Syria in the International Youth Mathematics Challenge 2022, held virtually in the German city of Cologne, achieved honorable results by winning two gold, three silver and eight bronze medals.
Thousands of students from different age groups and educational levels “basic, secondary and university education” from all over the world participate in the competition organized annually by one of the most important German educational institutions.
The competition consists of three stages of gradual difficulty.
On this achievement, the Director of Lattakia Education, Omran Abu Khalil, affirmed in a statement to SANA that the Education Ministry and its directorates continue to provide the necessary support to encourage creative students to pursue their passion and develop their cognitive skills by participating in competitions that provide an opportunity to communicate and benefit from international expertise.
In turn, the scientific supervisor at the Center for Applied Physics and Basic Sciences Bassel Sultan expressed his pride in the results achieved by the team, which added two gold medals to its tally compared to the silver and bronze medals it won during its participation in the last season.
He pointed out that the team members are among the elite of distinguished and talented Syrian students who have received training is excellent way according to a special curriculum that contains what the student needs from concepts of mathematics and physics.
Sultan added that this competition is one of twenty international and local competitions in which the center participates throughout the year, all of which are specialized in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
