BEIRUT, (ST)_ Lebanese president General Michel Aoun, condemned on Thursday Israeli airstrikes on southern villages and towns last night.
The President described these strikes as a flagrant and serious violation of tge UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and a direct threat to security and stability in south Lebanon”.
Moreover, President Aoun stressed that Israel’s use of its air force to target Lebanese villages is the first of its kind since 2006. “This indicates the existence of escalatory aggressive intentions which coincide with the continuous threats against Lebanon and Lebanese sovereignty”.
The President indicated that submitting a complaint to the UN is an indispensable step in order to deter Israel from continuing its attacks on Lebanon, according to the Lebanese News Agency.
