Aoun, Berri call on UN to stop Israeli violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty

Beirut (ST)_ Lebanese President General Michel Aoun called on the United Nations to move quickly to stop the Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty, according to the Lebanese Media Agency.

During his meeting with the Special Coordinator of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Lebanon, Ambassador Joanna Runica at Ba’abda Palace on Friday,  Aoun said, “The penetration of Israeli aircraft last night into Lebanese airspace is a new violation of Lebanese sovereignty and UN Security Council Resolution No. 1701, which requires swift action by the United Nations to ensure that it does not recur and put an end to it,” noting that such air violations are constantly repeated.

For his part, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, condemned the Israeli aggression and said that what happened last night regarding the Zionists’ violation of the sovereignty of Lebanese airspace and its use again as a platform for aggression against  Syria, threatening the safety of civil aviation is not only a flagrant violation of Resolution 1701 but also an aggression against Lebanon and  Syria.
