Anzour: Terrorism Hiting Syria Will Backfire on its Sponsors and Supporters

MOSCOW, (ST)- Deputy Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) Najdat Anzour has stressed that the foreign-backed terrorism hitting Syria will backfire on its sponsors and supporters.

In a statement on Wednesday at the conclusion of the 2nd International Forum on “Development of Parliamentarism” in Moscow, Anzour said “Many thought that the terrorism brought to my country can be encompassed and kept within the borders of Syria to kill and destroy without them being affected. However, the fact is different, because this terrorism is a cross border kind of terrorism that will affect all including their creators, sponsors and financiers”. He expressed astonishment over the world’s silence towards this fact.

Anzour called for justice and not to follow the foots of the forces which control most of the globe resources. “many have become a slave to the forces which control most of the globe resources and which constitute only 5% of the world population,” he said, stressing that “this is unfair”.

Several sessions were held today within the forum during which participating members of the People’s Assembly presented important interventions.

Parliamentary Cooperation

MP Samir al-Hajjar, during the session on parliamentary cooperation, called for active cooperation that maintains people’s rights and children’s future, preserves international peace and security and stands firmly against the terrorist aggression that is funded and architected by some countries.

He said that Syria is facing an organized terrorist war, reiterating that the international parliamentary cooperation should focus on supporting the Syrian people in the face of terrorism and its repercussions.

In the same session, MP Mahmoud al-Hasan said that the countries which are trying to dominate the world should respect all the principles of parliamentary action, pointing out that the policy of imposing sanctions doesn’t go in line with the principles of the development of the current international parliamentary action.

He called for joint parliamentary stance and action against some countries’ violations of international legitimacy and in the face of the inhuman siege and sanctions policies which cause suffering for the peoples of sanctioned countries.

Confronting anti-Syria propaganda

In the session on media and disinformation, MP Aref al-Taweel said that Syria has faced a media war waged by some western and Arab media outlets that launched propaganda, fabricated news, distorted facts and instigated killing and vandalism in Syria.

He called on all parliaments to join effort as to confront disinformation and fake news through documenting and exposing these fake news to the public.

International security

MP Boutrus Murjana, head of the Arab Affairs and Expatriates Committee at the Syrian People’s Assembly, said during a session on “International Security: Dialogue of Legislators for Peace and Stability”, that Syria has been facing a terrorist war and unilateral coercive measures because of its adherence to its rights, sovereignty and independent decision.

He made it clear that since the beginning of the war on Syria, the Turkish regime has facilitated the infiltration of terrorists into the Syrian territories from more than 83 countries. He added that Turkey has also funded and armed these terrorists and ensured for them a military, logistic and political cover, stressing that the Syrian state is determined to defend its sovereignty and restore its occupied lands by all possible means.

Environmental damage

Head of the PA Environment and Local Administration Committee Zeyad Sukari said in his intervention on the “environmental damage caused by terrorism in Syria”, that since the 1970s, Syria has spared no effort to achieve sustainable development through linking the issue of food security with environmental security and it managed to achieve food sufficiency.”

“But since the beginning of the global war on Syria, which was backed, architected and funded by the United States and other supporting countries, a systematic plan was adopted to burn Syrian agricultural crops and forests, uproot trees, pollute the water of rivers and lakes and shell cities and towns to frighten civilians,” added Sukari.
