Antonov: US sanctions against Russia harm Washington’s interests

Washington (ST): The Russian Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, stressed that the unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington harm the interests of the United States itself and the prospects for the recovery of the global economy.

TASS news agency quoted Antonov as saying: “Washington’s stubbornness, which continues the cycle of sanctions, is no longer a surprise. The US authorities refuse to recognize that illegal unilateral steps cannot achieve their declared goals. On the contrary, they harm the interests of the United States and they harm the efforts to recover the global economy.”

Antonov added that the US administration, within the framework of the sanctions that it imposes every period, “jumps in circles like a cowboy with poor eyesight and shoots without specifying targets,” stressing that the sanctions imposed on Russia cannot affect Moscow’s approach and position, and it will not be possible to isolate it with these restrictions. An example of this is the intensity of the schedule of international meetings of President Vladimir Putin in Samarkand during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
