Antonov: US policy towards Syria affects the entire region
Washington (ST): Russia’s ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, confirmed today that the US policy towards Syria affects the entire region, noting that its military presence on Syrian territory violates international laws.
Sputnik quoted Antonov as saying: “The US policy does not restore stability and balance to the situation or the territorial sovereignty of Syria, and negatively affects the situation in the entire Middle East.”
Antonov added: “The American military presence on Syrian territory violates international laws, as they occupy certain areas in the country under the pretext of the necessity to carry out anti-terrorist tasks.”
In a related context, Antonov said: The accusations leveled by the US Department of Defense against Russia for “unprofessional behavior in Syrian airspace” go beyond the limits of decency, as it is the United States that violates the rules of aviation there.
