DAMASCUS, (ST)_ H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored the urgent need as to redouble and rally efforts of the anti-terrorism states against the schemes by the United States, its allies and proxies as to weaken and dismember the region countries.
Receiving the visiting envoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi’, Mr. Faleh al-Fayyad the National Security Advisor , President Assad pointed out that though of the big achievements in the fight against terrorism in Syria and Iraq the said courtiers continue to provide financial support and political cover for terrorist organizations.
President Assad reiterated that anti-terrorism states are to safeguard their integrity and restore stability and security to the region.
Mr. al-Fayyad voiced confidence that the continued fight against terrorism by the people of Syria and Iraq as to eliminate it in preservation of the integrity and sovereignty of Syria and Iraq would but be the pillar for the restoration of stability to the whole region.
Mr. al-Fayyad conveyed a verbal message from Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi.
The message underscored the importance of the bolstering of cooperation and coordination between Syria and Iraq, particularly at the political and security level in light of the critical situation witnessed in the region.
On May 18, 2017, President Assad received a message from Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi conveyed to him by Abadi’s envoy, the National Security Advisor Faleh al-Fayyad.
In his oral message, Abadi stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between Syria and Iraq in their war against terrorist takfiri organizations, particularly the coordination of their efforts to fight Deash at the joint borders.
The Meeting dealt with military coordination between the armies of the two countries in the light of the victories achieved by the Iraqi army in Mosul.
President Al-Assad affirmed that any gain by the Syrian and Iraqi armies in the fight against terrorism is an important step to achieve stability and security in the two countries, because the enemy is common and the battle is one against the schemes as to weaken and dismember the countries of the region through the tools of the terrorist organizations.
On his part, Fayyad asserted the need for joint fight to eliminate terrorism and stop its crimes against the peoples of Syria, Iraq and the entire region, pointing out that achieving this goal necessitates sincere efforts by all countries, because terrorism has become a serious threat to the security of the entire region.
On January 5, 2017, H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad received Iraq‘s National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fayad, the envoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Abadi.
Mr. al-Fayad conveyed a verbal message to President Assad from Premier al-Abadi, who reiterated the importance of cooperation and coordination between Syria and Iraq in their war against the terrorist organizations with all of their names, and the necessity of this cooperation in the coming phase.
Assertion was laid that the accomplishments against terrorism in both countries, the last of which was in Aleppo and al-Mosul, do represent the victory for the sisterly people of Syria and Iraq; hence the enemy of terrorism is but the same and so is its destructive takfiri ideology.
President Assad and Advisor al-Fayad underscored the importance of rallying of efforts by all countries as to fight terrorism, which acknowledges no borders, given the terrorist attacks worldwide.
On July 13, 2016, President Assad stressed that both the Syrian and Iraqi armies are waging the same war against terrorism, asserting that any victory achieved by one of the two countries is a victory for both and for all parties which are serious about fighting and eliminating terrorism.
Iraq’s National Security Adviser al-Fayad conveyed then to President Al-Assad a letter from Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Abadi dealing with political, military and security cooperation between Syria and Iraq, particularly in terrorism fighting.
President Al-Assad congratulated the Iraqi people and government on the victories and gains being achieved by the Iraqi army and Popular Hashd (mobilization) forces in their battle against ISIS terrorist organization, particularly the major victory represented by liberating the city of Falluja from ISIS terrorists.
The guest Iraqi official briefed President Al-Assad on the Iraqi army’s preparations to advance into the city of al-Musol and rid it of terrorism.
He reiterated the Iraqi leaderships’ keenness on enhancing communication and coordination with the Syrian government as such coordination would have positive results in the fight against terror groups which have become a serious threat to the region and the entire world.
