Anti-Russian line cannot be justified and also has no prospects: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stressed that the United States and NATO have been aggravating anti-Russian sentiment in Ukraine for a long period, reiterating that the Anti-Russia line cannot be justified at all and it also has no prospects.

Destructive US policy

In an interview with Xinhua News Agency, Lavrov stressed that the US has been pursuing a destructive course for decades, citing the NATO aggression against Yugoslavia, the attacks on Iraq, Libya, its attempt to destroy Syria, as well as “color revolutions” in a number of countries, including Ukraine.

“All this has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and led to chaos in various regions of the planet,” he added.

The Russian foreign minister noted that the Westerners are trying “with the most brutal methods” to suppress countries that seek to conduct an independent foreign and domestic policy, and it is not only about Russia.

According to the Russian minister, the sooner the West comes to terms with the new geopolitical realities, “the better it will be for itself and for the whole international community.”

Lavrov went on to say that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine is contributing to liberating the world from Western neocolonial oppression.

“It is obvious that the collective West’ attempts to hinder the natural course of history, to solve its problems at the expense of others are doomed,” the minister said, according to Itar Tass.

“Today’s world has several centers of decision-making, it is multipolar. We see how dynamically Asian, African and Latin American countries develop. Everyone has a real freedom of choice, including ways of development and participation in integration projects. Our special military operation in Ukraine also contributes to the process of freeing the world from the West’s neocolonial oppression, which is densely mixed with racism and an exceptionality complex,” Lavrov clarified.

Russia withstands West’s sanctions pressure — Lavrov

Lavrov also stated that Russia has overcome the sanction pressure of Western states and the situation has already been stabilizing.

“The special operation for protection of Donbass has become the cause for the collective West to introduce large-scale restrictive measures against Russia, its legal entities and individuals. The US, the UK, Canada, countries of the European Union do not hide the goal of “strangling” our economy, undermining its competitiveness and blocking further progressive development of the country,” Lavrov said.

“It is obvious that such anti-Russian line cannot be justified by anything and also has no prospects. As President Putin noted, Russia withstood this unprecedented pressure. The situation is stabilizing now, although, certainly, by no means all risks have already gone. In any case, it will not work out to weaken us,” the Minister said.

NATO doing everything to prevent political agreements between Russia and Ukraine — Lavrov

Lavrov further said that NATO countries are doing everything to prevent the completion of the Russian special operation in Ukraine by political agreements.

“We witness the manifestation of classic double standards and hypocrisy of the Western establishment at present. Publicly expressing support to the Kiev regime, NATO countries are doing everything to prevent completion of the operation by way of reaching political agreements,” the Russian Minister said.
