Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Conference, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism opens in Havana with Syria’s participation

HAVANA, (ST)- Syria is taking part in the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Conference, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism which opened last night in Havana. The event continues through November 3rd.

During the opening ceremony, the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez  addressed Cuba’s foreign policy and the struggle against the US blockade. He said that the administration of the US President Donald Trump is a serious threat to international peace and security, as Washington increases intervention in the internal affairs of other countries.

He warned that the US policies are triggering a new arms race and militarization of space.

The Cuban top diplomat hailed Syria’s legendary steadfastness in  the confrontation of terrorism, reiterating his country’s firm and continuous support for the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights.

 The participating Syrian delegation, which is led by Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya, held several meetings including with Esteban Lazo, President of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) and the Council of State, with Fernando Gonzalez Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and with Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, Vice President of the Cuban Federation of Trade Union, who all thanked Syria for participating in this conference to voice solidarity with Cuba against US hegemonic policies. They reaffirmed Havana’s continuous support for Syria’s war on terrorism.
