An impressive presence for Syrian writers at the Sharjah International Fair

Sharjah (ST): The Syrian book at the 41st Sharjah International Book Fair is of great importance to the Arab reader, thus reinforcing Syria’s original literary, cultural and heritage role in all Arab forums.

Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa stressed, in a special statement during his visit to the Fair at the Sharjah Expo, the importance of the diverse Syrian participation through publishing houses and the Syrian Publishers Association and through the Syrian writers directly participating, indicating that the Arab culture and language are one and everyone who works in this field takes a step forward in introducing our Arab civilization.

Minister Tabbaa said, “We have friendship and brotherhood with the UAE,” noting its orientations towards strengthening the role of young people in spreading the culture of reading, as the fair is the best evidence through the huge number of books and participating publishing houses and the diversity of the Syrian book, which conveys the culture and heritage of Syria.

In turn, the Syrian ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Ghassan Abbas said: “Syria is present in all cultural, scientific and artistic activities, because it believes in science and the message of Arab culture, indicating that the Syrian book was and still enjoys great importance in international Arab Fairs.

The head of the Syrian Publishers Union, Haitham Hafez, and the general manager of Al-Hafiz Publishing House confirmed that the Syrian book is one of the founders of the Sharjah fair, and the number of Syrian participants this year is about 95, noting that the Syrian publishing industry is working to overcome the crisis of printing techniques, and the effects of the war to present the true picture of Syrian culture.
