Damascus,(ST) – The paintings of the exhibition hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummana, under the title “Thread and Color from the depth of the Heart” by Nihad Issa, constitue an innovative mixture between drawing and manual work through the technique of colored threads and nails with which Issa was known.

The paintings showed the capabilities of the artist Issa in various subjects such as portraits, plants, animals, and landscapes in expressive style and subjects dominated by the national, social and historical side, using strings in the composition of the paintings.

As for his paintings, the artist, Issa, said: “I express my convictions in creating the paintings that I make, and then I form them with strings to introduce a new art that has evolved from the old art and differed from contemporary formation.” He pointed out that he is interested in national and militant issues, especially Palestine and  the resistance.

Director of culture in the city of Damascus, Wassim Moubayed said that “the topics addressed by the artist, Issa contribute in documenting the artistic renaissance that the plastic movement experienced in wartime, as it reflects the level of creativity reached despite all the circumstances and difficulties.”

The artist  Rabab Ahmed, the head of the cultural center in Abu Rummana, expressed the importance of this type of art because it presents new and advanced creativity in addition to expressing social and human visions in a way that depends on formation and application.
