The Higher Institute for Environmental Research in Latakia province organized an environmental exhibition at Tishreen University marking World Environment Day.
The event, which accompanied the “One Land Only” conference , was distinguished due to its multiple projects concerned with nature which aim to avoid using chemicals and reduce environmental pollution.
Dr. Attia Arab a teacher at the Agricultural Scientific Research Center explained in a statement to SANA correspondent that her participation in the exhibition aims to revive sericulture by displaying samples that illustrate the life cycle of the silk worm, starting from producing eggs and raising larvae to obtain cocoons.
In turn, Dr. MohyEddin Kalkha, the scientific advisor of “Re’ayati” Company for Agricultural Development, displayed samples of the organic fertilizers produced by the company in proportion to the needs of the soil and climate in terms of its richness in major elements .
He pointed out that these fertilizers are environmentally friendly and a good alternative to mineral and chemical fertilizers and works to increase soil fertility and reduce soil and plant toxicity.
Dr. Tarek Arraj and Dr. Bara’a Seo participated with their students of the Applied and Environmental Chemistry department with a presentation of their natural products, including cosmetics, sun-creams , and therapeutic sprays extracted from plants to replace the traditional chemicals used in the manufacturing of these products to prevent their dangers on both humans and the environment.
Ibrahim Aziz Saqr’s participation, who is a professor at the College of Agriculture and Head of “Al Rawabi” Association, came through showcasing the products of his students including handmade works as wood burning and bamboo works.
Jihad Assaf participated in displaying his photographic posters on natural areas, forests, dams, rivers and various water sources and the importance of preserving the environment, in addition to drawings engraved on gravel in Kufic and NaskhArabic calligraphy,
The agricultural engineer, Tuhama Youssef, participated in a poster on the importance of preserving the environment from pollution by using sterilization by ozone.
Youssef’s exhibits included aromatic natural plants that are used as raw materials in manufacturing her products including shampoos, therapeutic oil mixtures and creams.
