Lattakia (ST): An Egyptian ship loaded with about 500 tons of relief aid arrived at the port of Lattakia this morning to support efforts to face the repercussions of the earthquake and provide relief to those affected.
SANA News reporter stated that the aid will be delivered to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to be distributed to the areas affected by the earthquake.
Mahmoud Omar, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, stated that this is the second shipment of relief aid provided by Egypt to the Syrian people through the port of Lattakia, pointing out that the aid will be delivered to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to be later distributed to the areas affected by the earthquake.
Omar affirmed the historical relations between Egypt and Syria and the deep-rooted bonds between the peoples of the two countries.
He stressed “it is normal for the Egyptians to stand by their Syrian brothers to overcome the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the earthquake through providing aid via the air and sea bridges established for this purpose,” stressing that this aid shipment will not be the last.
In turn, Head of the Lattakia governoarte Council Tayseer Habib thanked and the government and people of the republic of Egypt for their humanitarian contribution.
After the handing over of the shipment to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization, the governor of Lattakia Amer Hilal met with the Chargé d’ Affairs of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus and expressed the gratitude of the Syrian people for the Egyptian aid.
