An attack on 2 water stations in Daraa countryside

DARAA, (ST) – Two water stations in the northern and eastern countryside of Daraa have stopped after unidentified people carried out an attack them.

Engineer Muhammad Al-Masalmeh, Director of the Water Establishment, told the correspondent of the Syrian News Agency (SANA) that unidentified people attacked yesterday the Al-Alia station , which feeds Jassim city in the northern countryside of  Daraa.

“The unidentified people vandalized the first station and stole a power transformer and copper cables causing the stoppage of the work,” he clarified.

Al-Masalmeh pointed out that the Establishment is exerting its utmost to secure an alternative transformer to operate the stations which provide 10.000 people with water.

He added that another attack targeted Al-Sahwa pumping station in the eastern countryside, where the 300-meter-long cable feeding the station was stolen.

Unidentified people had previously attacked the two pumping stations of Tal Al-Jumu` and Al-Hara in the northwestern countryside of the same governorate, thereby depriving 150,000 citizens from water.
