American police arrest dozens of pro-Palestine demonstrators in front of the Congress building

Washington,(ST)- American police arrested dozens of demonstrators who gathered in front of and inside the Congress building, to protest the continued brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip and American military support for Israel.

Reuters reported that more than 250 demonstrators were arrested among hundreds who participated in the protest organized by the “Jewish Voice for Peace” group, where the demonstrators wore red T-shirts with the phrases “Not in our name” and “Stop arming Israel” written on them.

While some carried banners that read: “cease fire now” and “let Gaza live.”

“Over the past nine months, we have witnessed countless atrocities in Gaza committed and funded by the United States government,” the group said in a post on social media.

The protests were scheduled to coincide with the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington to meet with US President Joe Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

The United States and other European countries around the world are witnessing ongoing solidarity demonstrations, denouncing the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, and in support of the Palestinian people.

7 American trade unions call on Biden to stop military support for Israel

In the same context,  seven major trade unions in the United States called on President Joe Biden to stop military support for “Israel” before his meeting with the Prime Minister of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Wafa News Agency reported that the unions, representing about 6 million American workers, said in a letter to Biden “We are terrified that our tax dollars are financing this ongoing tragedy in Palestine.”   The  unions explained that a large number of Palestinians, many of whom are children, are still being killed, in many cases with American-made bombs, which threatens to ensnare more innocent people into a wider war, while the humanitarian crisis worsens day by day, with famine, mass displacement, and the destruction of basic infrastructure, including schools and hospitals.

The unions stressed that it is time to work decisively to end this war, and that stopping American military support for Israel is the fastest and most guaranteed way to do so.

Earlier this year, the American trade unions launched an organization called the National Action Network for Ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
