Ambassador Dayoub discusses with the advisor to the Iranian president the development of free zones between Syria and Iran

On January 18th, the Syrian Ambassador to Iran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, met with the Iranian President’s Adviser and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Free Trade and Industrial Zones and Special Economic Zones in Iran, Hujjatullah Abd al-Maliki.

The two sides discussed ways and mechanisms to develop cooperation between Syria and Iran in the economic fields in general, and in the field of free zones in particular.

Ambassador Dayoub stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the field of free zones between the two countries, in a way that enhances their trade and economic relationship, leads to the flow of goods and commodities to their markets, and mitigates the effects of unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on the peoples of the two countries.

For his part, Hujjatullah Abd al-Maliki stressed the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of free zones and promoting mutual investments, in a way that enhances trade and economic relations between them.

He expressed Iran’s readiness to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in this regard.
