Ambassador Ali Ahmad: True concern for the interest of the Syrian people requires the immediate lifting of coercive measures
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ambassador Haider Ali Ahmad, affirmed Syria’s categorical rejection of the mandate of the so-called “International Commission of Inquiry on Syria” and its fabricated reports, pointing out that true concern for the interest of the Syrian people requires acknowledging that ending the suffering of the Syrian people does not need suspicious mechanisms or reports, rather, it needs the immediate lifting of the unilateral coercive measures that violate the basic human rights.
Ali Ahmad said in a statement during an interactive dialogue with the Commission within the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva that the fabricated report presented today is full of gross inaccuracies and misleading content, and it constitutes a continuation of the Commission’s approach since its establishment. The Commission was supposed to rely in its work on impartiality, objectivity and credibility, but its reports over the past years have proven to be politicized and immoral, relying on false witnesses, open sources and fabricated evidence for its information, he clarified.
Ali Ahmad pointed out that the authors of the report deliberately ignored the crimes of the terrorist groups over the past years, and their fabricated report did not include any reference to these crimes or these groups, and was devoid of even the word terrorism, despite the documentation of these crimes in several reports issued by the Security Council. He pointed out that the authors of the report adopted fabricated evidence with full knowledge, manipulated information, narrated and analyzed the facts, and used cunning phrases and ambiguous terminology for nothing but to level unfounded accusations against Syria and its allies.
The representative of Syria to the United Nations Office in Geneva stated that the Commission continued its approach even with regard to the earthquake disaster and exploited this disaster to launch a new set of lies away from reality in an attempt to obliterate the efforts made by Syria. He reaffirmed Syria’s readiness to cooperate with all those with sincere intentions to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria.
Syria’s representative said that it is time for the report authors and for the states supporting them to stop ignoring the reality of what happened on the ground and stop protecting what they call “parties to the conflict” who are terrorist groups which should be confronted by all countries.
