Havana (ST): Alida Guevara, daughter of revolutionary leader Ernesto Che Guevara, condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist war imposed on Syria during the past years.
Guevara said during her meeting with the Syrian ambassador to Havana, Dr. Ghassan Obaid, at the embassy today: “This heinous terrorist war sought to target the Syrian people and distort their civilization and ancient history because Syria is a country that resists and rejects all forms of compromise and normalization.
She added national unity prevails in Syria as the people rally around their wise leadership in defense of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, preserving its dignity and the independence of its national decision.
Guevara reaffirmed her support for the Syrian people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation to liberate the occupied Syrian Arab Golan and her support for the liberation of all occupied Arab lands and the right of return for the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Guevara also praised the cultural and civilizational diversity of Syria, the good hospitality and the popular and official reception that she received during her visit to Damascus, referring to her desire to repeat that visit.
Guevara confirmed Cuba’s correct position in closing the Israeli occupation embassy in solidarity with Palestine and the Arabs, expressing her surprise at some Arab countries’ normalization and establishing relations with the occupation.
For his part, Ambassador Obeid expressed his appreciation for Guevara’s sincere feelings towards Syria and her strong and supportive stance and her condemnation of the terrorist war that Syria was exposed to during the past years, pointing out that she represents the historical school and the living legacy of the great leader Che Guevara, who visited Syria in the year 1959.
