Alia Al-Nahwi exhibition is a mixture between expressionism and abstraction

The National Center for Visual Arts hosted the exhibition of plastic artist Alia Al-Nahwi, which included a number of important works in engraving.

In a statement to reporters, Dr. Ghiath Al-Akhras, the director of the center, stressed “the importance of the exhibition in presenting the artist s’ works especially that this technical specialization “engraving” suffers from a decline in the number of practicing artists. Therefore, Alia was able to depict the components of nature in her works in a graphic style”.

Aila used one technique for engraving, which is the silk clothing, which combines the black and white, trying to present purely artistic works.

“The black and white is the world that she grew up seeing in her father and mother’s photographic works and their great passion for showing the world in these two colors”.Al-Nahwi said.

She depended on the experimental method in the completion of her paintings, as she mixed expressionism and abstraction. She began her experiment from the reality within the reflections of light then she moved to abstract expressionism.
