Algeria: The international community should put an end to the crimes of the Zionist entity in Palestine and Lebanon
New York, (ST) – Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf called on the international community and organizations to expedite putting an end to the ongoing crimes of the Zionist entity in Palestine and Lebanon.
Attaf said in a speech during a general debate of the United Nations General Assembly that the war of genocide and its extension to the West Bank and Lebanon and what is happening in the entire region due to the Israeli escalation would not have happened if the international community had taken a firm position at the time that imposes on the Israeli occupation settlement occupation what it imposed on others from punitive measures and deterrent measures codified by the United Nations Charter in its seventh chapter.
Attaf pointed out that the world is going through a very delicate, sensitive and dangerous turning point, which revealed the extent of the failure that has afflicted the collective security system and the disregard for international legitimacy and the spread of the phenomenon of polarization and the accompanying absence of the role of the Security Council.
Attaf stressed that the stage the Palestinian cause is going through does not accept a return to what came before, nor does it accept hesitation or inaction in supporting the Palestinian national project, nor does it tolerate procrastination or delay in supporting the move towards establishing an independent Palestinian state as a just, permanent and final solution.
Attaf mentioned Algeria’s call to expedite the acceptance of full membership for the State of Palestine because this demand was made in less turbulent, crisis-ridden and tragic circumstances in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the rest of the Palestinian neighborhood.
“Today, however, this trend has become imposing itself with all inevitability and urgency ”, he added.
Attaf stressed that full membership for the State of Palestine constitutes a decisive step towards confronting the plans that the Israeli occupation is preparing and towards preserving the constants of resolving the conflict and the foundations of security and stability in the region.
