Algeria’s Embassy in Damascus Marks 62nd Anniversary of Algerian Revolution against French Colonialism
Algerian Embassy in Damascus held Wednesday a reception to mark the 62nd anniversary of the Algerian Liberation Revolution against the French Colonialism.
The reception, held in ‘Four Seasons’ Hotel in Damascus with the participation of Syrian officials, included several speeches on Syrian-Algerian relations and an exhibition on the Algerian people’s suffering from the French occupation.
“The revolution took place in November 1954 will remain fresh in the memories of the Algerian people and in the memories of the peoples who love peace and independence. It will also remind them of the great victory over the French Colonialism,” Algeria’s Ambassador in Damascus Mr. Saleh Boshah said during the reception.
He referred to efforts being exerted to activate bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Syria in all fields.
“It is everybody’s duty to back efforts being exerted to end crisis in Syria,” the diplomat said, asserting Algeria’s support for Syria in fighting terrorism.
On his part, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad said that the Algerian revolution defeated colonialism. “France’s colonial role has not changed and it is still conspiring against Algeria and supporting terrorism in Syria,” he added.
Dr. al-Miqdad described the relations between Syria and Algeria as “strategic” between the two countries’ leaders and peoples.
Speaking to reporters, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban said that France’s conspiracy against Syrian people reminds us of the French Colonialism against the Algerian people.
“We are on the right path..we resist aggression, occupation and colonialism.. Sacrifices of our martyrs will lead to victory against hateful colonial powers,” she concluded.
