His remarks came on Sunday during an interview with the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution that has become an example for the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America in their struggle for liberation.

The ambassador pointed out that the joint Syrian-Algerian committee search for available partnership opportunities to develop bilateral relations in all fields, indicating that the joint higher committee, which is co-chaired by the prime ministers of Syria and Algeria signed many agreements and Memorandums of Understanding that covered economic and cultural sectors for the common interest of the two countries’ peoples.

He stressed that the  residence  of Emir Abdul Al-Qader Al-Jazaeeri in Damascus cemented the historic relations between Syria and Algeria.

“The Algerian Revolution has consolidated the principles of freedom, justice and the equality of rights between peoples as well as reaching a solution to conflicts in  peaceful ways based on dialogue,” Tohami said, referring to the Syrian people’s support for the Algerian revolution.

The Algerian struggle for freedom from French imperialism was absolutely central to the political landscape of the twentieth century. We should remember its heroic history and honor its legacy today.
