On October 2nd, the Presidency of the Algerian Republic announced that Algeria has decided to recall its ambassador to Paris, Mohamed Antar Daoud, for consultations, as an expression of its rejection of French President Emmanuel Macron’s interference in its internal affairs.
“President Abdelmadjid Tebboune decided to immediately summon the Algerian ambassador to Paris for consultations, against the background of what was reported by French media about statements attributed to French President Emmanuel Macron, which were not denied, and included interference in Algeria’s internal affairs,” the Algerian News Agency quoted the Algerian presidency’s statement.
The statement stressed that Algeria rejects any interference in its internal affairs, adding that Algeria considers these statements irresponsible.
Last Wednesday, the Algerian Foreign Ministry summoned the French ambassador to Algeria against the backdrop of the French government’s unilateral decision to reduce the number of visas granted to Algerians.
